The garden contains native plants of Alabama. A visual
treat in all seasons, the garden's primary attraction
has been the early- to mid-spring floral display. Native
plants are sold year-round, particularly during the
garden's Fiesta sale each April. Docent tours available
at no charge; request at least two weeks in advance.

Sixty-acre arboretum maintains plant collections for
botanical education and appreciation. Has four sections,
the largest being a native woodland, which contains
6 miles of walking trails and includes trees, shrubs,
and vines native to western Alabama habitats. An Experimental
Garden demonstrates organic gardening techniques, an
Ornamental Garden includes rare species such as the
Alabama croton, snowwreath, dawn redwood, popcorn tree,
and pistachio. A Wildflower Garden includes 250 labeled
plant species, many of which are rare and endangered.

Founded in 1952, the museum focuses on natural history
and is dedicated to fostering public appreciation of
the Sonoran Desert Region. A native plant Pollination
Garden supports native bees, butterflies, hummingbirds
and bats. Ongoing live animal demonstrations are given
by docents on the grounds as weather permits.

A 49-acre desert reserve located in northwest Tucson,
Tohono Chul Park is dedicated to enriching people's
lives by providing them with the opportunity to experience
the wonders of the Sonoran Desert and to gain knowledge
of the region's natural and cultural heritage. Park
features include nature trails, a garden for children,
exhibits, lectures, concerts and workshops.

Six natural divisions and geographic regions based on
vegetation, topography, and surface geology are represented
at the park, from the flat-topped hills and steep, narrow
valleys of the Ozark Plateau, to the flat bottomland
and tallgrass prairies of the Mississippi Alluvial Plain.
Special events include a three-mile guided hike through
the park's wildest lowlands and a winter bird count.

Located on the outwash plain of the San Gabriel Mountains,
the 86-acre garden includes three sites: Indian Hill
Mesa, a large, flat-topped hill of dense clay soils;
the East Alluvial Gardens, at the base of the Mesa on
rocky, alluvial soils; and the Plant Communities, located
in an area of rocky, sandy-gravelly alluvial soils.
The garden is dedicated to the collection, cultivation,
study and display of native California plants and features
more than 6,000 native species.
